Well a week in to the season and it looks like the NL East is gonna be a horse race.
W L PCT. GB Atlanta 3 3 .500 0.0 Montreal 3 3 .500 0.0 Florida 3 3 .500 0.0 NY Mets 3 3 .500 0.0 Philadelphia 3 3 .500 0.0 I've watched a couple of Braves if the bats wake up they may get a good jump on everybody.I'm suprised by the Devil Rays being 3 and 3 and Bonds is off to a goos start.

Howdy, DRL. Yes, the baseball season is upon us....thank the good Lord! 'Twas a long, hard winter for us Yankee fans. If I were you, I'd be scared to death of the D-Backs. Schilling is unhittable in the early going, and Randy Johnson is, well, Randy Johnson. Yes, the rest of the D-Backs staff is thinner than Celine Dion, but the team seems to feed of the success of Schilling and Johnson. As a Braves fan, you needn't worry about the Mets. They'll probably self-destruct before the All-Star break, thanks in part to too many incompatible personalities in the clubhouse and a perenially combative manager. Bonds will hit 70+ homers....and walk 200 times. The man is amazing....the greatest player of our generation, hands down. Too bad he's about as warm and fuzzy as a grenade launcher.

Oh honestly Shooter- you STILL haven't gotten over it?? How 'bout that Clemmons...what a pitcher!! 10-3!! Oh yeah...I forgot- it was the OTHER team that got the 10... Ah yeah...but if nothing else we can still claim the best opening day record in baseball... 10-3 was an aberration, my dear. Sort of like a win by your beloved J-E-T-S...or, for that matter, by your beloved M-E-T-S. ;D ;D ;D

LS, the dispute indeed is affecting me. I'm shut out. I've had to listen to the games on News Radio 88, which isn't necessarily the end of the world. However, I'm confident that Cablevision will pick up YES before the All-Star break.

Mr. Shooter, I say this respectfully, but don't you be dissin' my D-Backs! We have Gonzo, Gracie, and Bell, and the only reason we're down a power-hitter is a broken ankle in Spring Training. (booo!!!) We battle you Yanks up next month for the first time . . . better be prepared. [/size][/move]

I'm a braves fan too! Wish they would get Randy Jonhson on thier pitching staff! now that would be great! I agree on Barry Bonds I think in time he will break Hank Aron's home run record. Thanks CCF

Wildrider, I'm not raggin' on your D-Backs. I have a healthy respect for what you guys did to us last year (although I still say you were just plain lucky to score the winning run off of Rivera), and I'm entirely impressed by what Schilling and Johnson have done thus far this season.

I thought so when they had the map of the affected area in the paper Mr. Shooter...I wouldn't count on a settlement though- Mr. Dolan's made this very personal, because they refused to let him buy into the Yankees... Been a major run on satellite dishes though...

LS, Mr. Cheapo here certainly isn't going to spring for a dish! And, at any rate, all of my dimes lately have been funneling toward a certain someone. ;D BTW, I know plenty of watering holes where I can catch my Yankee games if need be. I'll be the silent guy down at the end of the bar, nursing his Grey Goose martini.

Much better, Mr. Shooter. Of course, since the last time I posted, I watched the end of a very humiliating defeat by the Padres, which gives me great sorrow (and makes the cynic in me consider your words powerfully). Brian Anderson wants to be our third starting pitcher, but he's not been doing very well so far -- sure, the Schilling/Johnson machine is in high gear, but it WOULD be nice to get a full team. As good as our fielders are, it always seems like whenever someone else is on the mound, they can't do diddly squat. It's enough to make a D-Back fan shreik with despair. But the season is young... and the battles have just begun!

The Mets are gonna come back! Just opening blues. I saw a delightful little article on how the Yankees are gonna self destruct as the season progresses and won't make the playoffs. I mean c'mon, even Yankee fans are gettign tired of seeing them (to say nothing of us Mets fans)! Besides, that perenially combative manager is the best thing to happen to our team in awhile!

Mr Shooter How have you been? Yes it has been awhile, things are almost back to normal. There are not many things George has done since taking over the Yanks.....but this move with the YES channel, I tip my hat Anyone that can stick it to cablevision, gets my thumbs up LS, the dispute indeed is affecting me. I'm shut out. I've had to listen to the games on News Radio 88, which isn't necessarily the end of the world. However, I'm confident that Cablevision will pick up YES before the All-Star break.

TM, I've been fine. Very busy, but fine. I hope all has been well in your camp. Incidentally, thanks for getting this board up and running. "Da Bronx" has once again been well represented. As for the Cablevision thing, I'm told that I soon will be seeing some sort of refund - empty compensation, as it were, for my inability to watch the Yankees thus far. All I have to say to Mr. Dolan is, thanks but no thanks. You want to make it all better? Carry the YES network and let me pay for it. Otherwise, stick your hollow gestures in your ear!
