The Mets are gonna come back! Just opening blues. I saw a delightful little article on how the Yankees are gonna self destruct as the season progresses and won't make the playoffs. I mean c'mon, even Yankee fans are gettign tired of seeing them (to say nothing of us Mets fans)! Besides, that perenially combative manager is the best thing to happen to our team in awhile! Roughneck, about that "delightful" article....where did you read it? Just curious, because the New York dailies have been effusive in their praise of the Yankees, and the national press has opined since the beginning of Spring Training that the AL East race was over before it began. Was the article written by a jealous Boston fan, by any chance? Or by an, ahem, slightly misguided Mets fan? You mean, I'm getting tired of the Yankees success? Really? Gee, that's news to me. ;D ;D ;D

Well.. The Mariners have done it again. It seems that the magic is still there. I know 4-3 is nothing special but given the fact that they constantly keep rallying in the end of games is heartening. I hope my Mariners can find a way to beat those damn Yankees sometime this fall

;D Hey Shooter, now is that [glow=blue,2,300]4[/glow] games that the Yankees have lost? True, the Mets lost last night, but that makes their streak only 1 loss. I have to admit, Torre's one of the classiest guys in baseball, but he should have retired before the dynasty ended, at the top of his game!

;D ;D AH YES......Mr. Shooter your Yankees are having some trouble I see. What really amazes me is that when they were doing good it was........an ex MET Robin Ventura that was the one finding the outfield fence. ;D ;D

;D ;D AH YES......Mr. Shooter your Yankees are having some trouble I see. What really amazes me is that when they were doing good it was........an ex MET Robin Ventura that was the one finding the outfield fence. ;D ;D Yes, Ventura's fairly carrying my team's offense at this point. Yes, he's an ex-Met. But isn't Al Leiter, your supposed ace, an ex-Yankee? We can play THIS game, TM, until the cows come home. ;D BTW, do you really think I'm worried about my beloved Yankees at this stage of the game? Do you really think I'm scared of the Red Sox? I mean, the smoke and mirrors that is the Red Sox pitching staff (led by the suddenly mortal Pedro) is scheduled to come-a-cropper any moment now. The Indians...what's gotten in them?

Honestly Shooter, you're starting to sound like one of THOSE Yankee fans... The Yankees are just SO...LAST century already- out of style, passe...It's a new century- time to get with the times- things change. Besides, the complete collapse of the bullpen this early in the season...hmmm, doesn't forbode well at all. And tsk, if you want to go tit for tat, historically speaking, the Bombers (and seems of late, they're not called that for nothing... ), have wound up with far more in the way of Mets leftovers, that the Mets ever scraped off a Yankees plate. Roughneck, my good man- I do have to disagree with you on Torre though. There are 3 former Mets in the club's history I have absolutely no use for...Tug McGraw (gee, it must run in the family...lol!! ;D ), Joe Torre and Darryl Strawberry. Far as I'm concerned, Torre & Strawberry have taken their rightful place among such stellar Yankees as Steve Howe...

[glow=blue,2,300]Yeah, Strawberry has shown himself to be pretty useless. All he does is embaress the team when they stand by him and he's right back in jail. Heard they just put a cell on reserve for him, always open. [/glow] [glow=orange,2,300]Heck, even Yankee fans are beginning to admit that Giambi was a mistake. All he does is take the spotlight. He hasn't produced nearly the amount he's paid. They have the largest salary in the game and can't produce.[/glow] [glow=blue,2,300]And Little Sister's right. as I seem to recall it, I looked at the Yankee line-up (the one at the stadium, not the precinct house ) for the series and a lot of the names there looked familiar from the Mets line-up of the 80's, specifically 86 and 89.[/glow] [glow=orange,2,300]And I've already said that when the Yankees don't make it this year the fans are gonna cop out with the history of what is it now, 26 titles. I KNOW they will! At that point I say that this is the year that matters, not the past![/glow] [glow=blue,2,300]I think the thing that I find the worst is that they have their own damn channel! How arrogent is that? Actualy I know that ticks a lot of Yankee fans in the city off because now they can't watch the games. (But would they want to now?) Guess the big question now is do they lose their channel if they blow the season?[/glow] [glow=orange,2,300]Also my dear you forgot Gooden. [/glow]

Actually Roughneck, Strawberry was ALWAYS pretty useless...one of those prima donnas that collected a paycheck for just suiting up. Used to just stand there in right field, and unless the ball fell directly in his glove- he'd never move an inch. Was always Dykstra or The Mook that would basically play center AND 98% of right field... Everytime the jerk took the field- he'd be taunted with "Da-r-yl" (kinda like they did with a certain Chipper Jones' given name...lol!!)As far as YES...both Steinbrenner & Dolan are going to come out losers. Dolan's not only public enemy #1 right now, but he's losing subscribers in droves- everybody's ditching cable and switching to dishes. Steinbrenner's going to lose 'cause Cablevision's the biggest carrier in the area, and he's losing tons and tons of revenue he was counting on...to help finance those multi-multi-million dollar contracts. Didn't count Gooden...when he was a Met, he was the awesomest pitcher- a thing of beauty...till he became pals with Strawberry. Very sad- such a waste.

Hey LS, I enjoyed rubbing the last Subway Series in the face of all the Yankee fans I know! They typically copped out with "well we've got more titles." Think we can do it again and REALLY get bragging rights? ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hey LS, I enjoyed rubbing the last Subway Series in the face of all the Yankee fans I know! They typically copped out with "well we've got more titles." Think we can do it again and REALLY get bragging rights? ;D ;D ;D ;D Well Roughneck- looks like so far both sides have gotten equally pounded, so tonight's game could go either way. However, I'm kinda enjoying the fact that the Yankee games aren't being carried here...and since their fans can't watch the games- things have been blissfully quiet.

It's been a while...too long, as far as I'm concerned. But I'm back, at least for the moment. So without further ado..... First off, I'd just like to say, HI EVERYONE!!!! I missed everyone here dearly. Second, I want to state for the record (and point out the obvious) that my beloved Yankees are solidly in FIRST PLACE! Third, I want to assure everyone that Mr. Shooter has been absent from this board for all the RIGHT reasons. That is to say, I've been extraordinarly busy laying the groundwork for the rest of my life. But more on THAT score later. So what has everyone been up to?

8-)Welcome back! Was beginning to wonder if you were ever going to come back. I missed ya', even if you are a (cough) Yankee (cough) fan (cough, GASP!, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze ). I kinda liked that game against the Rangers the other night; woulda been even better if the Yankees had shown up ;D. We've been quiet hear for about a month. Seems everyone took vacation at the same time. We've been discovering new music and trading them. Other than that same ol' same ol'. So what have you been up to?
