Always the hard hearted woman Red. No can do on your request. You know damn well that one's a physical impossibility. ;D Yea football. Time to gear up for another season of a snowball's chance. ;D Back to the Mets, it looks like Mr. Shooter's question has been answered. Some interesting trades. Lost a hitter in the process, but we'll have to see how things play out now.

That was truly a touching story snizz... ... ... ;D ( Please refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages while typing in the future... ;D ) Franco Shooter?? Sorry that one's a bouncer...He's been reviled by Mets fans since his first go 'round- there was only applause to see him go and groans when they took him back. I'm with Willie Randolph...totally different era now and none of 'em know how to play the game anymore - so with that...time for FOOTBALL!! ;D Ah yes, time to get out my J-E-T-S gear and prepare for another snoozefest of a season. ;D And the reason Howe keeps using Franco is.....?

Duquette clearly was thinking about next season and beyond ("wait 'til next year" is alive and well ;D ). 'Course, there was nothing really wrong with the Mets starting rotation prior to these acquisitions. The bullpen and the lineup - now there's your horror show. Maybe Benson and Zambrano were brought in for their bats. ;D

On a serious note, my condolences to the family of former Met radio man Bob Murphy, who passed away today after a brief bout with lung cancer. Murphy was a class act, probably one the best baseball radiocasters of the last half-century. What a terrible loss for Murphy's family, for baseball, for Met fans and for baseball in general. Heaven awaits a man I always envied.

Yea it's a very sad day. The broadcast booth hasn't been the same without that old familiar voice around. Bob Murphy, Ralph Kiner and Lindsey Nelson. The voices of the Mets. Fasten your seat belts, ya gotta believe! That's why through thick and thin we always have and we always will Mr. Shooter, because of those guys right there. It ain't whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.

Ah yes, time to get out my J-E-T-S gear and prepare for another snoozefest of a season. ;D Hmmm...I recall you mentioning last season the Mrs. is a Buffalo fan...and the Jets are a snoozefest?? Good one Shooter!! Ummm...because he's an idiot. Sorry Shooter- but we don't have much control over boneheaded managers or coaches. Matter of fact- when we were saddled with Stottlemyre he wasn't exactly known for being the brightest bulb...but I guess you already know that. ;D

Hmmm...I recall you mentioning last season the Mrs. is a Buffalo fan...and the Jets are a snoozefest?? Good one Shooter!! Hey now, I married HER, not her team. As far as I'm concerned, the Bills are just things in my wallet (and I don't have too many of 'em, if you know what I mean). Besides, I'm in, ahem, LOVE. If she rooted for, say, the Dolphins, I wouldn't care. ;D Gee, and Art Howe always says nice things about YOU! ;D Stottlemyre has produced results for the Yankees, first as a pitcher and now as a pitching coach. His brand of light bulbs ain't THAT bad.

Howdy all ;D ;D. I thought this was a good one for me to jump back into. HIIIIIIII Shooter . As most of you know that have been here for awhile, I was born and raised in Da Bronx. To not be a Yankee fan.......well let's not go there. However when George took the wheel and started firing everyone faster then I skinned my knee and change my undies, that was it for me. I mean when I had to keep a scorecard for the managers and coaches....see ya. Then the strike. That pretty much killed any interest I still had for the game. I don't think it's actually the Yanks that people hate, but the arrogance of the fans.

I hope it wasn't anything I said. ;D A native Bronxite and not a Stankies fan? Rebel, Rebel! That's about when I hung up the pinstripes. I had to give it up, the Billy Martin ping pong tournament caused me severe injury---- permanent whiplash.

Ah yeah...and of course Shooter has never himself uttered an unflattering comment about Torre... Shooter- no one was questioning Stottlemyre's talent as a player... However there's been a very long list of talented players- many of them Hall of Famers- who've gone on to become managers and coaches...but it didn't mean their playing talents translated very well into managerial or coaching skill. But hey...if you think his managerial/coaching skills are cracker jack...ooops - I mean crunch n' munch ...whatever spins your wheels. Where there's arrogance, there's a reason for it. Oh...then if that explains it... what's the reason for George DuHbya Bush?? ;D

Oh...then if that explains it... what's the reason for George DuHbya Bush?? ;D Have I ever said ungracious things about Joe Torre? Oh, good God, no! His sister's a nun! ;D I may be dumb, but I surely ain't stupid. Ever since Sister Rita threw that hymnal at me in first grade, I've made it a point not to rattle the cages of those who have a "spiritual connection." ;D ;D As for Stottlemyre, I'm of the mindset that he not only was a pretty good player, he has also a pretty decent pitching coach. I'll say it again, no one (at least no one in Yankeeland) questioned his prowess as a pitching coach when the Yankees strung together 4 championships in 5 years. Well now, Bush's arrogance is not the product of, ahem, WINNING. ;D Can it be said that he TRULY won the 2000 election? And how can one say he won the war in Iraq, a war that will NEVER end in victory as we know it? Far as I can tell, there's something to back up the Yankees swagger; as for Bush, well, I guess he'll always be able to boast that he earned a "gentleman's C" at Yale. ;D
