I noticed that the applause for Rudy could be described as lukewarm at the very best! Compare that to the roaring applause that greeted Kerry and just about every other speaker. I read they're not too thrilled about McCain's appearance there either!!

Did he speak tonight? I watched it on CSPAN and it was one of a few random channels giving me problems. Caught Rudy part of the way done. I knew I didn't want to watch too much of this or I'd puke.

Yeah- today was Bloomie, Rudy and McCain...Nobody's real happy with Rudy- or Bloomie for that matter. That 9/11 thing- most NYers know they're just using us for their political again- plus the fact that we've been screwed by the Bushies and most blame Rudy and Bloomie for letting them get away with it and have their party here. But hey- you know Rudy's got his security consulting firm now so... The GOP loving Daily News really floored me with their editorial yesterday...it was so sarcastically funny!! Editorial: Republicans In New York A Message To All Our GuestsAugust 29, 2004 Hello, you Republicans. Welcome to New York City. Sorry about all the barricades and the checkpoints and other such inconveniences you’re going to encounter this week. But there are reasons for those. One of them is a place deep downtown we call Ground Zero these days. It used to be the World Trade Center. But that isn’t there any more. So this is how we live, with our barricades and our checkpoints, and we guess we're kind of used to it. We know our town is a target. We figure that somebody is surely going to try to hit us again someday. But we go about our daily affairs as best we can. The trains still run. The Broadway lights still brightly burn. And we still like to host a lot of large crowds. That's what we do here. There's you, for example. There are, what, 5,000 of you conventioneers come to visit? Along with your families? Well, that may be a lot of people some other place. Here, you're just more faces in the crowd, really. So we assure you there's no need for you to feel like some kind of alien freak just because you're in what your local captains have probably told you is a notoriously wicked Democratic stronghold. Relax. Our mayor's a Republican. Sort of. And besides yourselves, as you might have heard, there are also a bunch of other folks in town this week, protesting against you. That's another reason for the barricades. Some of these people are possibly going to be real pests. Most of them, though, are decent Americans just like you, merely choosing to exercise their constitutional right to dissent. You may not agree with them about every little thing - if you agreed with them, they wouldn't be "dissenters," would they? - but they have a right to think what they think, just like you do, and we trust we can mostly all get along for these few days and play nice. So welcome to New York. And as you wend your way around and about, please note that everywhere you look there are many thousands of police officers manning those checkpoints and barricades. New York's Finest, we call them, and we're grateful to them in these dark times - all of us here, Democrat and Republican alike. Their services don't come cheap. Their counterterrorism operations alone, for example, run about $200 million a year. Mostly we're picking up that tab out of our own pockets. Perhaps some of you might like to encourage your legislators to get us more of these federal anti-terror dollars we've been getting stiffed on for too long? Thank you. Meanwhile, great to see you. Glad to have you. Please do enjoy our many fine restaurants and theaters and museums. (No smoking in the restaurants. Sorry. Thank the mayor for that.)

I read they're not too thrilled about McCain's appearance there either!! That's because the Bushies are trying a last ditch attempt to put on their oxymoronic "compassionate conservative" face for prime time and they're rolling out their "liberal" wing to try to woo-hoo the few undecideds that are left.

Yes, and they couldn't be more transparent about it. With the exception of Cheney last night, there hasn't been a neocon to be seen or heard from. All of the speakers who've appeared don't represent the hardline neocon wing of Bush's real platform. He's hiding it behind the party moderates again. I'm becoming very disappointed with McCain. I'd always thought he was a much better man than that, but even he's stooped to being untruthful. Much of what he said was a direct contradiction of the 9-11 Commission's report. His slam at Moore was a cheap shot. He says he's never seen the movie, so how can a man who prides himself on honesty and fair play condemn what he's never seen?

Yeah well I think Cheney's and Miller's venomous tirades and personal attacks on Kerry made up for it and turned off a lot of people...who also noticed Osama (Dead or Alive!!) was conspicuously not mentioned once. McCain...yep he's deeply disappointed me- and it just goes to show- party ties are thicker than honesty.
