I am just letting everyone know that ProBoards will be updating their servers to a new version 4 software during the next week. So at some point our server will be down while they do the update and the forum will be inaccessable for a time. They are doing it one server at a time and they haven't given a date when our server is scheduled to be updated.
The update will include new features to the board and as soon as I get it all sorted out I'll explain what they are and how to use them.
After the update is done if anyone runs into any problems, post them to this thread and I'll try to get them taken care of.

Ok...Good news is the forum's still here...bad news is things are pretty messed up. First: Everyone who's registered are still registered, same password, SN, etc. - but everyone has to reactivate their account. When you go to log in you'll get a screen with a box asking you for your birthdate (which is now required). After that you'll get another screen with activation info. The activation code will be sent to your email addy used to originally register...if anyone's addy has changed and you never changed it in your profile- the activation box will give you the opportunity to update it. There IS a problem with people with AOL email addys getting their activation code...it's suggested if you have an AOL addy, sign up for an alternate account with hotmail, etc. to avoid this problem. There is currently a problem with 'Too many connections' errors. When you receive your activation info, there will be an activation link. If you try to activate using that link, chances are pretty good you'll receive the "too many connections' error. The way around that- at least it worked for me...copy your activation code, come back to the forum, hit login, a box will come up asking for that code- just paste it in and hit the button and you should be reactivated and can access the forum. Also...a glaring change. If you want to access a board on the forum, you can no longer just click anywhere inside the box to the board (ie: Basement, Blues, etc.)... you must click directly ON THE TITLE of the given board...Don't know if this is just a glitch that needs to be worked out, or if it's permanently the way things are going to be. There's a lot of code that needs to be changed, a lot of new features to figure out and obviously a lot of glitches to be worked out yet before everything runs smoothly again... One thing for certain- even after re-accessing the board, you'll still get a lot of 'too many connection' errors...between admins trying to fix/update their boards to be compatible with this new software and tens of thousands of members reactivating accounts, etc. I expect that to be ongoing for at least the next several days ...Hopefully, everybody will hang in there while things get straightened out. Again- once you get in...post any problems to this thread.

What a flipping pain in the arse this is!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Red ;D I figured out the reactivation this morning ;D but I was wondering how come when I tried getting into a board, if I didn't get one of those stinking connection messages it kept coming back with someone's profile instead. I know it's new, but being an old dog who doesn't like to learn knew tricks ;D I'm not sure I like a lot of these changes.

The profiles display if you click in the titla box. To avoid that from happening click directly on the title. I am working on this, and who knows what else. OH YES it is a pain in the arse!!!!!

Is that some kind of computer gobbledeegook? ;D I do like that there spellchecker though. After a few beers seemed to have impaired my, uh, accuracy ;D I'm happy to report I accidentally discovered that problem seems to be fixed now ;D and you can click anywhere in the titla box ;D to get into a board. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I'm with my boy Southbound, good luck to you there Travelinman.

ARRRRRRRRRG!!!!!!!!!! This SUCKS, I'm lost! NONE of the function buttons for making posts work in Opera. I have to mouse over the buttons to see if the code comes up so I can enter it manually. Why can't you just be normal and use IE? Why does Red keep you around anyway? Damn, I can't rag on you for this one. It took me a while but I finally figured that out too! ;D At the top of your profile page you'll see the word "Modify". Click on that and it'll take you to the page where you can make changes. Yo Travelinman, do I get paid for figuring any of this out? ;D Yea, same here bud. I think it's more of a pain I'm not real hot on that wussyarse "most users online" crap either, I've always hated that on other boards. Showing the last post made on every board seems like a waste to me too. But hey, I'm not the rocket scientists who stay awake all night thinking up this crap, I'm only on the receiving end. ;D

How do I get INTO my profile to make changes? And maybe I'm being picky, but the drop down for changing pages is stupid. It makes it inconvenient instead of just clicking on the page number. Good luck trying to figure out this mess TM! OK Hey Southbound, what's happening. As for your profile just click on the profile icon up top. I am using Opera 7.54 and profile works fine. I am now going to try a regular reply instead of quote.

SB yes you are right. None of the tags or smileys work in Opera. I'll work on it.

Yes Snizz title box is one of those high tech terms, It's a box around a title, I just made it up last night. The mouse over problem of opening profile I fixed last night. I will keep an eye on things today while at work.
If any other problems show up post them here.
Have fun. Oh and Snizz I think tonight A FEW beers will be in order for me.

I use Opera also. Less prone to hacker problems, not widely used yet.
When I start getting paid for this we'll talk ;D ;D

I am now going to try a regular reply instead of quote. Ok...I just found something I totally DO NOT like!! and I'm using this post as an example... When you want to reply to a quote...it now picks up ALL the previous replies to quotes!! This is a lose-lose situation as far as I'm concerned ...posts are gonna wind up being unnecessarily long (a total waste of space!!) and confusing (I've seen this on other boards- and after a while you have no idea which quote's being addressed or who made the original post or who made subsequent replies to a quoted post)...Otherwise to avoid that from happening- it's gonna take people forever to delete all unnecessary quotes/text. This was a STUPID move. And I'm pretty much with the stuff some of you guys are unhappy with...I can't stand that idiotic 'most users online' thing either- like who cares?? Sooo 'Jr. High' in my opinion but seems the only way to disable it is to get rid of the entire 'info center' ...And it could be worse snizzster there's now a feature (that we've chosen not to activate) that adds a 'today's birthdays' and lists all the members who have a birthday on that day!! There's a lot of other really asinine stuff too that can be added but we have no intention of bothering with...I think all we want here's a pretty simple, uncomplicated forum for people to just come in and post to when they feel like it- and all the silly 'bells & whistles' serve no purpose.

Yeah, the way they did that was assanine. I don't care one way or another about the "most users online" thing, but the bugs are bugging me. And that style of quoting, you can go in and manually arrange that you only quote the post you are quoting, but that's just a pain. The birthday thing... ;D The today's birthday thing I see as more kiddie than the whole most users thing. Like, I think everyone here is a little old to need to be the center of everyone's attention on that day..."HEY, I'M 23 1/ 2 YEARS OLD TODAY EVERYONE! Hell, aren't a number us to the point where we'd rather forget them? Whole update...it was fine the way it was!
