I'm just dropping by quickly to thank the board admins for sending the email concerning membership and to rebookmark the board. I didn't disappear on purpose, I had some computer problems and my hard drive crashed. I back up my work, but I never remember to back up the obvious like bookmarks and address books , so I lost the link and couldn't find my way back here. LS, I took your advice on some of those recommendations and look forward to chatting with you about them. I'm going away for the weekend to spend Father's Day with my dad, but I hope to connect with you when I get back.

Hey Roland...good to 'see' ya!! Whew!! Thought we really did scare you off... Sorry to hear 'bout your crash...but glad that's all it was. Just covering the bases...a few people have lost the link...and this is kind of an odd board. Seems people come around in spurts- it's busy for a couple days and then it's suddenly ghost town city so it's kinda hard to tell who mighta lost the link or whatever... As for myself- been kind of a hectic couple of weeks for me...things should settle down some after next week- then I should be around a little more. Til then- post away...I'll try to pop in if I get a few. I'd love to hear what you picked up and what ya think...

Ditto with what Red said Roland. Good to hear we didn't send you running for cover. ;D Some of us are somewhat crazy to various degrees. But not certifiable. Yet. ;D

I'm glad to hear I'm still welcome after my embarrassing absence. I've got a strong constitution and told you I didn't scare easily. ;D I was reading through trying to catch up a little and you guys are wild. I mean that in a good way. Now that I found my way back, here I am slacking behind again but someone else's misfortune became my fortune and I landed a last minute summer position I had to rush to get prepared for. Of course I picked up Otis Taylor's "Double V." It has a different sound than his previous CDs, he stripped down the arrangements and it doesn't sound as dark and heavy. The songs are still 100% authentic blues with dark social topics but the melodies are lighter. I like it as much as any of his others. I was also lucky enough to see him in concert and live, he impressed me even more. He has a powerful and commanding presence and it was a gripping performance. His daughter is touring with him and she's a very talented singer herself and offsets her father's vocals to near perfection. LS, I took your advice and picked up Albert Cummings' "From The Heart." All I can say is, how did I ever miss this guy? He's fantastic! For sure I'll be adding "The Long Way" soon. When I ordered that one I checked out Hillstomp too and liked what I heard so I got that one too. I'm glad I took a chance on that one, it's one crazy trip!

Really Roland...of course you're still (and always) welcome. Nothing to be embarrassed about...heck that's practically a religion for some of us. ;D But now I'm curious and my turn to be nosey ;D ...what is it you do for a living?? I'm with ya on Otis'...4 for 4- another winner!! Lucky dog you...unfortunately for reasons beyond my control- I missed him when he was here and he doesn't come up this way very often. Glad to hear you like Albert...had a feeling you would. And yep Hillstomp is a hoot!! And I really respect the artists who after you buy their album send out emails thanking you for buying and supporting their music. Too bad they don't venture out past the West Coast though- them I'd love to see live. ;D

Thank you and it's nice to know there's a place tolerant of the socially impaired. ;D What do I do for a living? Now I might be walking on thin ice with some people since we're not on the top of many popularity lists. But here goes. I'm a teacher. I presently teach in middle school and got called at the last minute to take over a summer school class. To quickly change the subject ;D I'm sorry you missed Otis, I'm sure you would have enjoyed his show. Maybe the next time. On the subject of Hillstomp, who you compared to the Black Keys, I just read the Keys have just finished a new CD that's supposed to be out in the fall.

I'm a former high school history teacher. Gave it all up years ago to pursue the law. There are days I regret it, although I'll NEVER miss the lunatic parents and the bureaucratic nonsense (department heads are for the birds). Anyhow, never be ashamed to admit you're a teacher. Proclaim it from the rooftops! No greater profession on the face of the earth. 'Course, when you catch a summer school detail, it's a horse of a different color.

Proclaim it from the rooftops! No greater profession on the face of the earth. 'Course, when you catch a summer school detail, it's a horse of a different color. Mr. Shooter, likewise pleased. Still, history teachers are higher up on the food chain than the dreaded math teacher. I can't say I blame you for giving it up for a more, how shall we say, lucrative profession? It's become the norm over the past decade. Ashamed? No, never. I'm afraid it's a case where the teachers' unions are responsible for generally giving us a bad name over the course of the last couple of decades. (I AM annonymous here, right? ) Discouraged and disgusted? Yes. Lunatic parents and assinine dept. heads are simply an occasional unpleasantry that goes with the job. It's the "bureaucratic nonsense" caused by administrators, along with under and un funded State and Federal mandates that are destroying the system. Throw in an ever increasing number of students and/or their parents who can't speak English that we're expected to deal with, as well as our hands being tied over matters of discipline and, well I think you get the picture.
