I found this posted on another board. Damn goodie goodies can't leave anything alone. I expect next I'll wake up one morning and find out they changed the name of the country from the United States of America to Disneyland? HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - The bluesman in the logo for this year's Western Maryland Blues Fest won't be smoking. The festival's organizing committee has removed a cigarette from the image.
"It just was an unnecessary element to the beauty of the painting,'' said Carl Disque, Blues Fest founder and committee chairman.
The committee opposes the promotion or portrayal of alcohol, tobacco or drug use, Disque said recently. "It's a family event,'' he said.
The three-day Blues Fest opens Friday.
Francisco Amaya, a college art teacher from Buffalo, N.Y., who painted the image, said the change bothered him, but the contract allowed it.
"No kid or person is going to look at a painting and want to smoke a cigarette,'' he said.
The original hangs at the Washington County Arts Council Gallery in Hagerstown.

LOL- Disneyland...good one!! And hey- look at the bright side snizz...so they banned 3 of the 4 things the blues are based on...but <notice that> least they didn't ban s-e-x ;D Ugh...I've come to the conclusion- especially after the last couple days- that for the most part this country's gone completely insane.

Why do I keep getting these damned error messages tonight? Stupid machine! If they banned that too, they'd have a helluva lot of instrumentals on their hands. I've got nothing against kids, I've got a couple of my own. But some common sense please! There has to be a line and not everything was meant for kids. If they're too young, they don't belong, simple as that. If they're old enough, then they're old enough to learn that life ain't Disneyland. The insanity. I know what you're saying after I saw 8 years of history rewritten and whitewashed in one weekend. I lived though it and I don't remember things that way at all. On the subject of bluesfests, how did the Beach and Clear Channel lose B.B.'s?

Well I assume you mean Reagan's funeral? That was to be expected. Went and poked a stick into some of his fans, they didn't like it much! ;D

And with all due respect...the State funeral he's entitled to- but a 3 ring circus and a National Day Of Mourning with Fed and State offices closed??!! I'm sorry- I must've misplaced more than a decade somewhere ...I wasn't aware he was a sitting President. Seems the whole irony of it's has been missed too... Saw that...really, you shouldn't pick on poor non-Americans like that...LOL!!

On the subject of bluesfests, how did the Beach and Clear Channel lose B.B.'s? Been having a bit of trouble here myself tonight...must be a server glitch I guess. Ah...BB's fest...well a little bird gave another little birdie a contact the first little birdie made, and the second little birdie contacted the third little birdie- and won the booking. ;D Same capacity, performers get the same cut- but tickets are 1/2 the price that CC was charging every year. My heart does bleed for poor CC... ;D Looks like me & Rick are going on a field trip too!! The kids at the store wanted tickets- BAD...we had access to pre-sale, but there was an 8 ticket limit. So he bought 8 and I bought 8 and now we have 12 teenagers to babysit in rows 18 and 19!! They're great kids though, they're really into BB...so it should be a blast. ;D

What galls me is they want to stick his name on EVERYTHING! The Pentagon, money, they even want to carve him on Mount Rushmore! The only thing I haven't heard is renaming the country!

The Pentagon, money, they even want to carve him on Mount Rushmore! The only thing I haven't heard is renaming the country! I don't care about the day of mourning- that also goes with the 'turf'...but they said 'closings' were only gonna pertain to non-essential government offices. Since when are VA hospitals non-essential ?? So help me- the next hypocrite that spouts 'support our troops'...the last shred of class I've got left goes out the window and I'm gonna start spittin' in some faces. Not to sound crass- a death is always a sad thing...but a week is utterly ridiculous- as is the over the top, wall to wall pomp & circumstance...It's one thing if it were a sitting President (and at that, FDR's & JFK's didn't even last that long)- but quite another for a former President. But then we are also dealing with former actors- and one who even scripted his own funeral 20 some years ago too, eh?? Instead of 'humble and dignified' he goes for the bombastic- right out of a Hollywood movie (no ego trip there )...while amusingly the so-called 'right' finds it all just ducky- even though any other time they consider anything 'Hollywood' as nothing more than a wasteland of <gasp> depraved 'liberals.'

Lol, nice deal! sounds like it'll be fun. It's further out on the Island...but least it breaks up the boredom and gives them something to do. Eh...it's not so bad. I've gotten wrangled into taking a few of them to other shows now and then...just not that many at one shot!! The kids that hang around the store- well music's their passion. And the kids that are takin' lessons- like we mentioned before...it's 'cause they wanna be there- not like they have to. But it does speak volumes about BB that kids young enough to be his great-grandkids appreciate his music and want to go see some 78 year old guy.

No I don't think Disneyland is accurate. Disneyland is fun and enjoyable. This is America "land of the free".......as long as you agree with the popular thought or cause of the time. I amazes me how the powers that be think by erasing something from movies, posters, billboards, and so on it will go away. When you think about it......the more advanced and educated we are supposed to be, the dumber we are becoming. Let's see smoking and drinking in the blues What are we thinking.
