Radio report this morning stated that Eric Clapton has decided to drop "Tears in Heaven" and "My Father's Eyes" from his concert repertoire. Clapton stated that he can no longer sing these songs because he "no longer feels the loss," a reference to the death of his son Conor over a decade ago.

This is unusual, an artist who actually feels the emotions displayed in his song...or at least, this is unequivocal proof, unlike certain folks who blatently admit that they feel no connection to the songs they sing, whether happy, sad, angry, or whatever.

Yes, it's somewhat refreshing, Roughneck. Most artists start phoning it in when they lose the emotional connection, if only to keep the fans happy and earn the extra buck. 'Course, in Clapton's case, the man doesn't exactly NEED these songs in his concert stable. Given his two distinct "careers" (blues and rock), he can tap a large body of work.
