Didn't catch the interview, but got tickets to see him and Joe Bonassama this weekend. I'm hoping he'll be test driving some of his new stuff.

JOHNNY WINTER TO RECEIVE AWARD Texas blues rocker JOHNNY WINTER will be honored with an award when he next plays in Connecticut. Winter is being recognized as the 'Most Requested Artist 2002' by Beef Stew, host/producer of the #1 rated Sunday Night Blues radio program on 106.9 WCCC-Hartford. The award presentation will take place onstage minutes before Winter's performance at Toad's Place, 300 York Street, New Haven, CT., on Friday, April 25th 2003. Johnny Winter, whose career spans four decades, 29 albums and numerous reissues, recently did a telephone interview on 106.9 WCCC and said he's 'feeling good', finalizing his new Cd release and looking forward to 'getting back out and playing.' Winter's band includes singer and harmonica man, James Montgomery. Beef Stew from 106.9 WCCC commented; 'In the decade that I've programmed Blues music on commercial radio, Johnny Winter has consistently ranked in the top three, and in 2002 was the #1 Most Requested Artist. It's great to see this man again, doing what he loves to do. His fans are very loyal, especially here in Connecticut where Johnny lives, and this award is only a small token of the recognition he deserves.' Beef Stew and 106.9 WCCC are also aiding a campaign to help get Johnny Winter get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. www.petitiononline.com/msr/

How was the show LittleSister? Awesome Alice. He's still recovering from his hip surgery, so he did the show sitting down and still rocked the place though it looked like he still had some pain now and then. He did toss in a couple of the new songs- but all those dang rowdies from CT came swarming down (as usual) and they were so noisy, I couldn't hear what the names of them were...one was a slow burn that was really awesome. From what he played- his new album sounds like it's gonna be really terrific. Of course, all us rowdie NYers will swarm Toad's for the obligatory payback ;D ...but cool to hear he'll be gettin' an award. Really wish I could pull in CCC...so close, yet so far.
