Blues-leaning singer/songwriter Susan Tedeschi is gearing up for the release of her third album, "Wait For Me," due Nov. 19 on Tone-Cool/Artemis. The disc is her second for the label, and the follow up to 1998's "Just Won't Burn," which earned Tedeschi a best new artist Grammy nomination. It peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Top Blues Albums chart and has sold 571,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The 11-track "Wait For Me" was produced by Tom Dowd and Tedeschi, who wrote much of the album's material, save a handful of cover versions by the likes of Bob Dylan ("Don't Think Twice, It's Alright") and Paul Pena ("Gonna Move"). The album includes contributions from Col. Bruce Hampton, Chuck Berry sideman Johnnie Johnson, and guitar prodigy Derek Trucks (who is also Tedeschi's husband and father of her young child). Tedeschi is planning a national tour in support of "Wait For Me," starting in December. For tour dates and more information, visit her official Web site: www.pipeline.com/~stb/-- Troy Carpenter, N.Y.

This is good news. Susan has one of those voices that you can listen to and never become weary of hearing.

Alice, picked up the new album...Susan made it well worth the wait- it's awesome...Even better than her last one- a lot more bluesy. She does an outstanding job on Don't Think Twice. Here's another guy I really think you'll like...Jeff Pitchell. He's from CT- and mostly just plays locally around New England. He just put out a new disc called Heavy Hitter...sitting at #9 on the blues chart right now. He does a totally awesome cover of Whiskey River with James Cotton on harp, and Clarence Clemons has a spectacular sax solo on a cover of Willie Dixon's My Babe. Here's his webiste...there's clips of some of his older stuff- and you can probably hear clips from the new one on most of the music sites: www.jeffpitchell.com/index.html

Thanks LittleSister. I'll check out the website and keep my eyes peeled for the CD of Jeff Pitchell.
I have heard a couple of tracks from Susan's new CD. It'll be sitting on my CD rack soon. ;D ;D ;D Gosh, that girl can sing and the albums she could sell if only she got some airplay.

Money that'll be very well spent Alice. Yep, that's one totally awesome voice...but unfortunately I don't think this one's gonna get her as much air play as the last...The singles from her last one were more "blues/rock" and got a lot of play on the classic rock stations...The new one is way more straight up blues- so I don't think it'll get much exposure beyond the few blues stations and shows that are left. Don't know when she's going to tour behind it though...right now she's touring with the remainder of the Grateful Dead (who are now calling themselves The Others) and is standing in for (the late) Jerry Garcia on guitar...(Now that one struck me as pretty odd).

LS, I picked-up this album today. Very bluesy...love it. Susan is going to be in town on the 20th. I will probably miss the show but at least I have the CD. The "good" radio station here in town is doing a good job in promoting that concert and playing tracks from this CD.
