~~ A Journey To Music's Heart & Soul~~
I picked up this book yesterday. This is an excellent book about the history of The Blues.
'The blues can chill you out, level you off, bring you up, make you cry. The blues are perfect, however you feel. They have been a part of my life now for forty or more years and I really hope that more people listen to the blues and make them a part of their lives. They have helped make me what I am today and what I will be tomorrow...So let the odyssey continue!' ~Bill Wyman~ 2001

OOOOOOO Alice...lucky girl!! I've been drooling over that one for a long time!! The library doesn't have it, and it's way too pricey here - I can't even find a used copy under $30.

LittleSister have you bought this book yet? I am reading a few pages each evening. I am up to page 82 - Bessie Smith - The Greatest Of All Classic Blues Singers. It is so hard to put down this book once I begin reading. The book is so interesting and chock full of history.

No Walden Books here Alice... Just Borders or Barnes & Noble. B&N had the best price- but still a bit over $30 plus the tax. I'll just have to wait for now , and hope someone tosses me a useful gift certificate for Christmas.

LittleSister!! ;D ;D I know you must love this book. And you lucky girl, you got the CD companion too. Alright! Have you had a chance to look through the book yet? Have you seen the picture of the young T-Bone or the picture of SRV? Ah, T-Bone he'll always be JV's hero and would've been also been SRV's hero too. I can't wait to read about T-Bone's history. Bill Wyman has alot to say about T-Bone. I didn't get the CD's with my book. But, I wouldn't part with the book. I am up to page 124. Now that Christmas is over I can get back to reading a few pages each day. I have enjoyed each and every page.

Those CDs were a big surprise!! I honestly didn't even know they existed...I can't believe I missed that!! So far, mostly looked at the pictures- and I've made it through the introduction...Yeah, I'm gonna love this one!! Got another really cool set of CDs too...Times Ain't Like They Used To Be: Early American Rural Music. It's a whole series of really rare recordings taken from old 78s from the 20's and 30's- before country, blues, folk and gospel music split- some really great gems on these!!

The pictures in this book are awesome. Times Ain't Like They Used To Be CD's - those sound like some good CD's. I am expecting to see many good releases in the stores in the upcoming new year. I'll be picking them up too because after they're gone, they won't be back.
