Mark Selby will be releasing his new release "Dirt" January 28, 2003. here's some information from his site:
The follow-up to Mark Selby's critically acclaimed debut "More Storms Comin'" is another collaboration co-produced by Mark and Grammy award-winning producer Brent Maher. The upcoming CD features 11 new Selby compositions and plenty of Mark's trademark searing guitar and soul-searching vocals, along with some truly inspired musicianship from the band and special guests. DIRT finds Mark exploring new musical textures and lyrical themes, building on the soulful strengths of "More Storms" and moving to higher ground.
Dig into Dirt, a killer new album from Mark Selby. Give it a spin and try to hold back. Just try not to feel the groove pulse through "Desire," or get sucked into the painful honesty of "Easier to Lie," or act indifferent about his slide work on electric or acoustic guitar throughout the album.
This is pretty much what you'd expect from a guy whose songs have been singled out by eagle-eyed industry watchers for their rare blend of raw eloquence and razor-sharp hooks -- songs like "Blue On Black," cut by Kenny Wayne Shepherd on his platinum-selling Trouble Is and singled out by Billboard as the Mainstream Rock Track of the Year in 1998. Or "There's Your Trouble," which broke the Dixie Chicks and topped the country charts for three weeks. And titles recorded by Lee Roy Parnell and Keb' Mo', Trisha Yearwood, Wynonna and other headliners.
He's also won major attention on his own, with More Storms Comin', his Vanguard debut in 2000. Depending on which critic you read, this package of original material and burnin' performances "is uniquely powerful" (Phil Cullen, ABC Online), "zeroes in on the essence of timeless roots rock" (Denise Sullivan, AMG), or -- winner of the brevity award -- "rocks" (Dan Moos, Pop Matters).
Of course, the critics haven't gone on the record yet about Dirt -- that's up to you, right? But it won't be hard to find plenty to say about this album. Dirt is real. And it's real good.
