I thought it was a wonderful show and I'm glad it was televised so I was able to get a chance to see a sampling of the performances. I have to say, aside from the controversery I hadn't had any exposure to the Dixie Chicks and I was very impressed with them! They are 3 very talented ladies. That performance of Sweet Baby James was incredible. I wish them well and if I'm any indication, I think they've won themselves a few new fans. Yep me too...with the exception of one certain band <who'll remain nameless > it totally rocked!! I was really happy I got the see a little bit of the other shows I'd have really loved to have seen- 'specially since it seems outside of Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Dave Matthews fans- there's nada from anybody that went to any of the other shows. John Mellencamp was great as usual...I was intrigued by Jackson Browne (who I love anyway) teaming with Bonnie & 'Keb- but it really worked and they were awesome. I was really surprised they did I Am A Patriot though- I was really expecting that one from Pearl Jam who's done it pretty regularly in concert. Stipe is a total piss- ya gotta love that guy!! Pearl Jam totally kicked A- especially on their cover of New World with Tim Robbins. Outside of his Mudslide Slim & Sweet Baby James albums- I'm not a real big JT fan...but I totally enjoyed his performance- he was adorable and funnier than hell...and the Chicks totally rock!! The standing ovation they got when they walked out was great...and I totally agree with you on that performance of Sweet Baby James- that was truly magnificent. Bruce & John Fogerty were awesome (sound problems aside)...though my one quibble is his insistence on Mary's Place. I don't hate it...and it does bring back the 'classic' sound of the old days- but...JMO- it's ok but it's just not that great a song. I think Waiting On A Sunny Day woulda been a better pick...but that's just me.

Hey-hey...no Neil < drats> - but got 'em both??!! And Travelin' Band as a bonus!! And Eddie as an extra bonus...and Steve his bad self with JB on 'Patriot' as the utlimate icing... ;D Without a doubt suffering through Patti was well worth the pain. Speaking of Steve and Patriot ;D I like the new av. That's become one hot commodity. Do pachyderms lie? ;D Poor Dave. Somehow I knew you wouldn't be too enthused. But for the record I didn't think he was ever going to get off either. ;D That was too bad, I like Bright Eyes. I've only heard a little Death Cab and would've liked to have seen them perform. You got me on Mellencamp. I was thinking it was funny meself, maybe he wasn't feeling well, but then when he got up and rocked out he seemed ok. It was a little weird, but maybe age is catching up with him. I know how that goes.

Speaking of Steve and Patriot ;D I like the new av. That's become one hot commodity. Yeah- looks that way...'specially the CD version- whatever copies are out there- people are actually paying the ungodly sum of $200!! Might be time to think about insuring my collection ...though 'course if they decide to re-issue- my stock plummets. Got Swamplands on Friday ;D ...damn talk about fast workers- they got it out before they even got the artwork (which should be comin' next week)!! ;D Dang though- really wanted the whole show- I really wanted JB & Steve's performance of Patriot (woulda actually liked to have JB's whole set)- but looks like we're only <ever> gonna get the Bruce/Fogerty set- & songs with Bruce sitting in with whoever & vice versa. (Cleveland's so far the only one that comes close- besides Bruce's set- that one's got REM's whole set). Upside is- Swampland's sound is totally amazing- sounds better than what most of the audience in attendance heard...sounds to me like it's right off the boards!! AND...it gets better!! Don't know how it got pulled off- but two camera, stage shot DVD set!! I know this is a stupid statement... ;D ...but let me know if ya want me to hook ya up with a copy. Got a good chunk of various Pearl Jam performances too if you want 'em...I'm still hunting for their version of Patriot...and can't believe it- but DC was their only performance of Bushleaguer!! so looks like I'll have to take that one off the tape. Yep I like BE too...and woulda really liked to hear My Morning Jacket too (I really like them)- but think they're profiles have definitely been given a big boost by shows they did... Could be it...and sadly I'm starting to get to know that all too well myself. Catch ya later...
